Cheap Oil Filters – The Functions of Car Oil Filters
Cheap Oil filters functions are just as good as expensive oil filters. Separating contaminants from the basic oil that your car uses, an oil filter can be used for different types of oil that ranges from lubricants, transmission oil, engine oil and hydraulic oil of your vehicle. However, though there is much marketing efforts being made for this product, not many people understand the basics of an oil filter; how it is used and what is it used for.
What are oil filters?
As the name suggests, an oil filter separates the contaminants in the oil that your car uses. Usable for different types of oils mentioned above, it works by allowing the oil to pass through layer after layer of material to filter the contaminants out like how an air filter works. By letting the oil go through this process, what you get is a cleaner, purer version of the oil that you put in. This will help you car run smoother and ensure that the engine will last longer.
What are the advantages of using an oil filter?
Cleaning your oil is crucial to maintaining a long lasting engine that runs smoothly. Oil filters are used in everyday vehicles ranging from cars, bikes to higher end vehicles such as naval ships. With a clean oil system that removes the contaminants in oil, the possibility of your engine getting clogged becomes greatly reduced. Put simply, these filters ensure that your engine will be running smoothly for a long time to come by ensuring that it is able to run as smoothly as possible with the cleanest possible oil.
On top of that, an oil filter also contributes to the overall efficiency of your engine. Typically, when your engine is turned off the oil will drain out the bottom part of your engine. Having an oil filter will make sure that a small amount of oil is retained. By doing so, the retained oil will start lubrication without having to wait for the oil to rise up all over again. This will allow your car to start with less risk of wear and tear as the engine is already lubricated.
Types of oil filters.
There are many types of oil filters and they differ in the way they work. Here are a few on the market today that are quite popular:
1. Mechanical filters – These are pleated filters that will trap contaminants in a separate container. As time passes, the contaminants will fill the container and it will have to be replaced.
2. Centrifugal filters – These filters use centrifugal force to separate contaminants from oil. The filter will spin and energy created from this spin will attract larger particles away into a fiber casing and another smaller container to keep it separated. This fiber casing, like any other filter will also accumulate dirt over time and will have to be replaced.
3. Magnetic filters – These filters use an electromagnet to remove particles from oil. This design is flawed in the sense that if you do not clean it on a regular basis, some contaminants may pass through. However, there is no need to replace this filter.
There are many types of cheap oil filters out there and having a good understanding of the types of oil filters, how they work and what advantages are there to using them will make you an educated consumer!
